Volkswagen Arteon Charging cable

3.6kW
The Volkswagen Arteon has a charging capacity of 3,7kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 3,7kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 3,7kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: Volkswagen Arteon Charging cable

The Volkswagen Arteon eHybrid is a plug-in hybrid grand tourer available in two body styles: the four-door Fastback and the Shooting Brake estate. Both are based on the MQB platform and share the same powertrain, combining a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with an 85 kW electric motor for a combined system output of 160 kW (218 hp) and 400 Nm, driving the front wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A 13 kWh lithium-ion battery with 10.4 kWh usable capacity provides a WLTP electric range of 59 km (37 miles) for the Fastback and 57 km (35 miles) for the Shooting Brake. Both variants cover 0–100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 222 km/h, with electric-only operation available up to 130 km/h.

The Type 2 charging inlet is in the front radiator grille, just to the left of the VW badge, consistent across both body styles. The onboard AC charger is single-phase and rated at 3.6 kW. There is no DC rapid charging capability on either variant.

Charging at a wallbox

At 3.6 kW, the Arteon eHybrid charges its 10.4 kWh usable battery from empty to full in approximately 3 hours 30 minutes at a wallbox or public AC charge point. In practice, most drivers top up from a partial state rather than starting from empty, so daily charging sessions are considerably shorter.

Which cable to use

With a 3.6 kW single-phase onboard charger, an 11 kW Voldt® Type 2 cable is the correct match for the Arteon eHybrid at any wallbox or public AC charge point. It handles the full charging capability without restriction and connects to every Type 2 installation built to the IEC 62196-2 standard. A 22 kW cable covers the Arteon eHybrid equally well and provides forward compatibility for any future vehicle with a higher-rated onboard charger.

How long a cable do you need?

Voldt® Type 2 cables are available in lengths from 4 m up to 40 m. Because the charging port is in the front grille, the Arteon typically parks nose-first towards the wallbox for the most direct cable run. A 6 m cable suits most home wallbox setups where that orientation is straightforward. An 8 m or 10 m cable gives more flexibility for garages and driveways where the car cannot always park directly in front of the charge point. For public charge points and workplace bays where the charger position varies, lengths from 10 m upward remove any concern about reach, and Voldt® supplies cables up to 40 m for installations where a longer run is genuinely needed.

Portable charging with a CEE charger

The Arteon eHybrid's 10.4 kWh usable battery is compact enough for a full charge to be achievable in practical timeframes from industrial CEE sockets, making the Voldt® portable EV charger a useful option at campsites, workplaces, and event venues. Because the onboard charger is single-phase and rated at 3.6 kW, it draws at that ceiling from any CEE socket type: a full charge from empty takes approximately 3 hours 30 minutes regardless of whether the socket is single-phase or three-phase. The 32A three-phase portable charger is the most versatile option for a household or fleet that also includes vehicles with higher-rated onboard chargers, as it reaches the full ceiling of each vehicle in the mix.

Voldt® charging cables are CE, UKCA and TÜV certified and manufactured according to IATF 16949 automotive quality standards. Single-piece moulded connectors, no glue or screws. IP67-rated for operation between −30°C and +50°C. 100% copper conductors with silver-plated contacts. Tested beyond 10,000 connection cycles. Three-year warranty, 100-day returns, free shipping across Europe.
