The Mégane E-Tech stands out among electric cars for one practical reason: 22 kW AC charging as standard on European-market versions. Where most EVs are limited to 11 kW on AC, the Mégane doubles that rate at a compatible three-phase post. The 65 kWh battery (60 kWh usable) charges fully in around three hours at 22 kW, or roughly eight hours on a standard single-phase 7.4 kW home wallbox. The Type 2 charge port sits on the right front wing.

Why your cable choice matters on this car

A 22 kW Voldt® Type 2 cable is the right match for the Mégane across every charging scenario. At home on a standard single-phase 32A wallbox, it draws the full 7.4 kW. At a public three-phase destination charger, it delivers the car's native 22 kW maximum. An 11 kW three-phase cable is a poor fit: on a single-phase home wallbox it restricts the session to a single 16A conductor, cutting your charge rate to 3.7 kW and roughly doubling your overnight charge time.

The right-front port is best approached nose-in, keeping it closest to the charging post. A 6-metre cable handles most nose-in home and public setups comfortably. An 8-metre cable is the practical standard for mixed use. A 10-metre cable covers awkward bay layouts. A 15-metre cable removes all uncertainty on longer driveways and hotel car parks.

Portable charging for travel and outdoor use
