Collection: Mercedes GLC 300 e Charging cable

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300e 4MATIC is a compact luxury plug-in hybrid SUV pairing a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 100 kW electric motor for a combined system output of 313 PS and 550 Nm of torque. Drive goes to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and 0–100 km/h takes 6.7 seconds. The 31.2 kWh gross battery (23.4 kWh net) sits beneath the luggage compartment floor and delivers a WLTP electric range of up to 130 km (81 miles), one of the highest figures in its class. The onboard AC charger is 11 kW three-phase. A 60 kW DC rapid charging option is available as an optional extra via CCS. The charging port is located on the left rear quarter.

Battery and electric range

The 23.4 kWh usable battery is a significant increase over earlier PHEV generations and enables genuine extended electric driving for daily use. In mixed conditions, real-world range typically falls between 80 and 105 km, depending on temperature, speed, and driving style. The electric motor alone is sufficient to sustain motorway speeds, and the system defaults to electric mode on startup. Regenerative braking is available via steering wheel paddles, allowing the driver to adjust the level of energy recovery.

Charging at home and at public wallboxes

At an 11 kW three-phase wallbox or public AC point, a full charge from empty takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. At a single-phase 7.4 kW supply, the same charge takes approximately 3 hours 20 minutes. Where the optional DC rapid charging is fitted, the 60 kW CCS connection charges from empty to full in approximately 30 minutes, making it practical to top up quickly at a public fast charger mid-journey rather than waiting for an AC charge overnight.

Choosing the right cable

The 11 kW three-phase onboard charger is fully matched by an 11 kW Type 2 cable, which covers every public AC charging point and home wallbox across Europe at the car's full AC rate. For those planning ahead for a future vehicle with 22 kW three-phase AC charging, a 22 kW cable is the forward-looking choice: fully compatible with the GLC 300e today and ready for any future vehicle without any change of hardware.

Cable length

The charging port is on the left rear quarter, so reversing to the wallbox is the most natural approach at home. A 6 metre cable suits most home driveway and garage configurations. For public charging, an 8 metre cable provides reliable reach across varied bay layouts and post positions. For locations where the post is further from the space, 10 and 15 metre cables are available, and Voldt® supplies cables up to 40 metres for dedicated or commercial installations.

Portable charging with a CEE charger

A portable CEE charger is a useful addition for GLC 300e drivers who travel beyond the fixed charging network. On a 16A single-phase CEE socket (3.7 kW), a full charge from empty takes approximately 6 hours 20 minutes, suited to overnight stops. On a 16A three-phase CEE socket (11 kW), a full charge completes in approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, matching the speed of a dedicated home wallbox. A 32A three-phase CEE socket delivers the same 11 kW rate and the same 2 hours 30 minutes charge time. Portable chargers are available from 3.7 kW to 22 kW, all fully compatible with the GLC 300e.
