The Mercedes-Benz EQB brings compact SUV practicality and optional seven-seat capacity to the electric range, built on the GLB platform. The EQB 250 pairs a 66.5 kWh usable battery with front-wheel drive and a WLTP range of up to 295 miles; the EQB 250+ raises usable capacity to 70.5 kWh and range to up to 333 miles. The dual-motor EQB 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC keep the 66.5 kWh pack and add all-wheel drive. Every variant charges through the same 11 kW three-phase onboard charger, gaining roughly 37 miles of range for every hour connected to a three-phase supply. The CCS charging port sits on the right rear flank, where the fuel filler would be on a conventional GLB.

Matching the cable to a family-sized battery

Most UK homes feed the wallbox from a single-phase supply. On that connection, a Voldt® Type 2 charging cable rated at 22 kW is the sensible choice for the EQB. Its conductors carry 32A per phase, so the cable delivers the full 7.4 kW a single-phase wallbox provides on one line: the 66.5 kWh battery charges completely in around ten hours, the 250+ in around eleven, comfortably inside an overnight window. An 11 kW cable, rated at 16A per phase, would hold the same wallbox to 3.7 kW and roughly double those times. At public and workplace three-phase chargers both cables reach the car's 11 kW ceiling equally, so drivers with a three-phase wallbox already installed can treat the 11 kW cable as the direct and more economical match.

Because the right-rear port mirrors a fuel filler, reversing into a bay leaves it closest to the post. A 6-metre cable suits most driveways. Eight metres is the dependable everyday length for home and public charging alike. Ten metres earns its keep where the post sits further from the bay, and 15 metres covers hotel car parks, wider family-sized parking spots, and longer driveways without stretching.

Charging away from home, holidays included

A car bought for family duty spends its share of time away from the driveway, and the EQB charges wherever there is a suitable socket. The Voldt® portable charger with a red three-phase commando plug draws the full 11 kW from any 16A three-phase CEE socket: a complete charge in around seven hours on the 66.5 kWh pack, around seven and a half on the 250+. Workshops, farm buildings, industrial units, and marinas often have one within reach of a parking spot, and the current adjusts between 8A and 16A to suit the supply.

The Voldt® blue CEE portable charger uses the 16A single-phase sockets fitted at campsites and caravan parks across the UK and the continent, charging at 3.7 kW. Plugged in each evening of a touring holiday, it keeps the EQB topped up for the next day's outings without a detour to a public charger. The Voldt® three-pin portable charger works from any standard UK domestic socket at up to 2.8 kW, within what the household wiring can sustain: at a relative's house or a holiday cottage, an overnight connection restores a solid share of daily driving range. Its built-in thermal sensor watches the plug temperature continuously and lowers the current automatically if the connection warms up, protecting the car and the wiring alike.
