Collection: Kia Niro EV charging cable

The Kia Niro EV (second generation, from 2022) carries a 64.8 kWh battery and an 11 kW three-phase onboard charger. At a three-phase wallbox or public post, a full charge takes around six hours. At a single-phase 7.4 kW home wallbox, the same charge takes around nine hours. The CCS2 and Type 2 charge port sits at the front of the car, behind a flap in the centre of the front bumper.

The right cable for the Niro EV

A 22 kW Voldt® Type 2 charging cable is the right match for the Niro EV. At home on a standard single-phase 32A wallbox, its 32A conductors allow the car to draw the full 7.4 kW. At a public three-phase post, it delivers the car's native 11 kW. An 11 kW three-phase cable restricts a single-phase wallbox to a single 16A conductor, cutting the home charge rate to 3.7 kW and stretching a nine-hour overnight charge to around eighteen hours.

The front-centre port is one of the most cable-friendly positions on any EV. Nose-in parking puts the post right there, which means cable length is driven by driveway geometry rather than the car itself. For most home setups a 6-metre cable is plenty. An 8-metre cable covers public bays and longer driveways without overthinking it. A 10 or 15-metre cable earns its keep only if your regular spots have posts set well back from the bay.

Portable charging for travel and outdoor use

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable delivers up to 11 kW via three-phase CEE, matched to the Niro EV's onboard charger. At a red three-phase 16A CEE socket, the car charges at its full 11 kW: a complete charge in around six hours. Red CEE sockets are found at workshops, farms, and commercial premises. The blue single-phase 16A CEE sockets typical of campsites and caravan hookups deliver 3.7 kW, useful for a partial overnight top-up but not a full charge of the 64.8 kWh battery.

The Voldt® Schuko/Type G compatible portable charger draws 2.3 kW (10A safe limit) from a standard domestic wall socket. A full charge takes well over a day, making this strictly an emergency fallback.
