Collection: Skoda Octavia PHEV Charging cable

The Škoda Octavia iV is a plug-in hybrid available as both a hatchback and an estate, combining a 1.4 TSI petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 204 PS. The 13 kWh battery delivers up to 43 miles of pure-electric range, enough to cover a typical daily commute without the petrol engine starting. The onboard charger draws a maximum of 3.6 kW from any AC source, meaning a full charge from empty takes around three and a half hours on a wallbox and around five hours from a domestic socket. There is no DC fast charging. The Type 2 charge port sits on the left front wing.

Why daily charging makes the difference

The Octavia iV's 43-mile electric range comfortably covers the average European commute and most daily errands. Owners who plug in every evening and drive on electricity during the day see fuel consumption drop dramatically. Those who treat it as a conventional car and rarely charge are carrying 13 kWh of battery weight for no benefit. With a full charge taking just three and a half hours on a wallbox, or five hours from a standard socket, the routine asks very little: plug in when you park, unplug when you leave.

Choosing a charging cable

The Octavia iV's 3.6 kW onboard charger is the limiting factor on charge speed, not the cable or the power source. A Voldt® Type 2 charging cable of any power rating delivers the car's full 3.6 kW without restriction. A 22 kW cable is nonetheless the practical choice: it works identically on this car and carries its full capacity forward to a future vehicle. The Octavia iV is a popular company car, and many lease or fleet drivers move to a BEV within a few years. A 22 kW cable bridges that transition without a second purchase.

The left-front port suits nose-in parking well, keeping it closest to the charging post. A 4 or 6-metre cable covers most home driveways comfortably. An 8-metre cable is the practical standard for mixed home and public use. A 10-metre cable handles awkward bay layouts, and a 15-metre cable covers hotel car parks and longer driveways without difficulty.

Portable charging on the move

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable is well matched to the Octavia iV. A blue single-phase 16A CEE socket delivers 3.7 kW, effectively the car's full charge rate, completing a charge from empty in around three and a half hours. Red three-phase CEE sockets deliver the same 3.6 kW, as the onboard charger is single-phase only.

The Voldt® Schuko/Type G compatible portable charger draws 2.3 kW (10A safe limit) from a standard domestic wall socket, completing a full charge in around five hours. For a 13 kWh battery, that is a perfectly practical everyday option: plug in after work and unplug before bed.
