The Mercedes-Benz C 350e is the plug-in hybrid variant of the W205-generation C-Class (2015–2018), offered as a Saloon and an S205 Estate. It pairs a 2.0-litre M274 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 60 kW electric motor integrated into the seven-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission, for a combined output of 205 kW (279 PS) and 600 Nm of torque. Drive is to the rear wheels only. 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.9 seconds. The 6.2 kWh battery (approximately 5.0 kWh usable) is water-cooled and mounted beneath the rear axle, delivering a real-world electric range of around 20 to 25 km (31 km on the NEDC test cycle it was homologated under), with electric-only running possible up to 130 km/h. The onboard AC charger is 3.7 kW single-phase, there is no DC rapid charging option, and the Type 2 port sits in the right-hand corner of the rear bumper.

Choosing a cable for the C 350e

The C 350e's onboard charger caps at 3.7 kW single-phase, so grid infrastructure doesn't change what the car can accept. Any wallbox rated 3.7 kW or higher delivers the same result: a full charge from empty in approximately one hour thirty minutes. The 3.7 kW ceiling has one clear upshot: any socket that can safely deliver 3.7 kW gives a full charge in around one hour thirty minutes, and a UK three-pin outlet in about two hours. What matters isn't finding a fast source, but having the right cable for whichever outlet is available where the car happens to be parked.
