Kia XCeed PHEV charging cable

Kia XCeed PHEV charging cable

3.7kW
The Kia XCeed PHEV has a charging capacity of 3,7kW. So we recommend using a charging cable of atleast 3,7kW for optimal charging speeds.

22kW cable compatible
However, please be aware that a 22kW cable is perfectly capable of charging at 3,7kW. With a 22kW cable you'll have guaranteed optimal charging speeds in the event of a new car or a possible upgrade in charging capacity.

Collection: Kia XCeed PHEV charging cable

The Kia XCeed PHEV is a compact crossover combining a 1.6-litre GDi petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 141 PS. The 8.9 kWh battery delivers up to 36 miles of pure-electric range, enough to cover most daily commutes and short errands without the petrol engine starting. The onboard charger draws a maximum of 3.3 kW from any AC source, meaning a full charge from empty takes around two and a quarter hours on a wallbox and around five hours from a domestic socket. There is no DC fast charging. The Type 2 charge port sits on the left front wing.

Why daily charging makes the difference

The XCeed PHEV delivers its lowest running costs when the battery is topped up daily. With a 36-mile electric range covering the average UK commute and back, owners who plug in every evening can run almost entirely on electricity during the week. Those who leave the battery flat are carrying 8.9 kWh of battery weight without using it, working against fuel economy rather than for it. With a full charge taking just over two hours on a wallbox, the habit asks very little.

Choosing a charging cable

The XCeed's 3.3 kW onboard charger is the limiting factor on charge speed, not the cable or the power source. A Voldt® Type 2 charging cable of any power rating delivers the car's full 3.3 kW without restriction. A 22 kW cable is nonetheless the practical choice: it works identically on this car and carries its full capacity forward to a future vehicle. Many XCeed PHEV owners move to a BEV within a few years, and a 22 kW cable bridges that transition without a second purchase.

The left-front port suits nose-in parking well. A 4 or 6-metre cable covers most home driveways comfortably. An 8-metre cable is the practical standard for mixed home and public use. A 10-metre cable handles awkward bay layouts, and a 15-metre cable covers hotel car parks and longer driveways without difficulty.

Portable charging on the move

The Voldt® portable CEE charging cable is well matched to the XCeed PHEV. A blue single-phase 16A CEE socket delivers 3.7 kW, which exceeds the car's 3.3 kW charger, so the car charges at its full rate: a complete charge in around two and a quarter hours. Red three-phase CEE sockets deliver the same 3.3 kW, as the onboard charger is single-phase only and draws no more regardless of the supply.

The Voldt® Schuko/Type G compatible portable charger draws 2.3 kW (10A safe limit) from a standard domestic wall socket, completing a full charge in around five hours. For an 8.9 kWh battery, that is a perfectly practical everyday option: plug in after work and unplug before bed.
