Some users, when charging their vehicle at home using alternating current (AC), experience a specific issue with the BMW i4. The charging process starts normally but stops after a few moments. Based on reports we have collected, this typically occurs within approximately 60 seconds. What draws attention is that some users report this problem even with a brand-new vehicle, just delivered from the dealership. Several have attempted multiple solutions without success. In some cases, the car charges normally, then suddenly halts the charging process. When the user tries to restart it, the charging briefly resumes for a few seconds before stopping again, often accompanied by an error message (in certain cases). It would be helpful to document this type of indication to present it at the service center, assisting technicians in identifying the root cause of the problem. A first check should be made on the cable and the charging station: the issue may be due to a faulty or damaged cable. In this case, replacing the BMW i4 charging cablemight resolve the problem. Updating the vehicle's software does not always improve the situation, although it can be worth attempting. Additionally, updating the smartphone app could help resolve the issue. Why? Because there is a possibility that a bug causes the charging to be interrupted randomly, changing the mode "without any intentional control" shifting from direct charging to scheduled charging, with an arbitrary time set. Consequently, each subsequent attempt is canceled when scheduled charging takes over, autonomously deciding to program the charge at a random time. Removing all settings might not be sufficient, as the system often recreates "charging routines" that do not match the user’s preferences. Therefore, it is advisable to reset the application or uninstall and reinstall it, ensuring the latest updates are applied.
