BMW charging problems are intermittent and hard to reproduce
When dealing with a "mandatory" charging issue with their BMW, some owners prefer to understand the problem and its cause, while others, when something goes wrong, tend to ignore it. Essentially, some believe it's better to have a repeatable issue meaning being certain that the problem exists while others think it's best to forget about it quickly, hoping that next time, the problem will disappear as suddenly as it appeared. Certainly, a situation like the first where the problem persists provides the certainty that something is not functioning correctly and that the issue occurs consistently. On the other hand, some BMW owners report problems that are sporadic and intermittent. Today, the issue occurs; tomorrow, it might not. Today, they experience "difficult" charging, but after a couple of weeks, everything works perfectly. Trying to understand the reason behind the previous occurrence of the problem often does not lead to a satisfactory answer. Knowing that connecting the car to a charging station (perhaps) might cause an issue is certainly not reassuring. This is why an intermittent problem probably indicates a more bothersome situation. A good approach is to record the various conditions under which the issue manifests, in order to identify common factors and better understand the cause of this annoying intermittency. It is also always useful to check the condition of the cable as it may have lost reliability: sometimes with a new quality cable such as Voldt Compatible BMW Charging Cable, the problem can be solved.
